Vietnam shares its borders with China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The capital of Vietnam is Hanoi, but the largest city is Saigon. When it comes to international affairs, Vietnam is considered to be a middle power. The country is also part of some major international institutions and organizations, such as the UN, the ASEAN, the APEC, the CPTPP, WTO, OIF, and it twice had a seat on the UN Security Council.
However, there are certain problems in Vietnam with bribery and corruption, as all surveys point out that there are major bribes of officials, health workers, as well as civil servants. There were some anti-corruption measures implemented in recent years, and they brought some results, but the situation is still far from satisfying. Plans are underway for some more measures that will begin this year, and some results should be evident by 2025.
